Some Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Do I have to have a partner in order to sign up for dance classes?
Answer: No. You can sign up by yourself or bring someone with you.

  2. If I come with a partner, will I be able to dance just with him or her?
Answer: Yes! During classes we encourage people to rotate around the room, so that everyone has a chance to practice with different partners, but we also recognize that different students have different needs and desires, and so we offer this as an option (changing partners), but do not require it.

  3. I'm not sure Swing Dancing is for me. Is it possible to take just one class to try it out?
Answer: Yes. Individual (single) classes are priced somewhat higher per class than group classes, but you may take any class on a class by class basis. We will even transfer that over to your group class should you decide to sign up for a group class.**Novice dancers (dancers without swing dance experience) may take the first class only of any 6-Week group class, on a one time basis.

  4. How long are group classes?
Answer: group classes range from 45 minutes (novice classes) to 1 hour and 15 minutes (advanced dancers). This is usually spelled out in the class descriptions, and class flyers etc.

  5. If I'm going to miss one or more classes, can I get a refund for the classes I will miss?
Answer: No. If there is a medically legitimate reason for dropping out of a class, credit (toward future classes) will be offered. If you know ahead of time that you're going to miss several classes, you may want to enroll on a class by class basis, if that would work better for you.
  6. Do I have to be enrolled in a class to participate in special events or group outings, such as going to out of town dances etc?
Answer: No. Special events and group outings are open to everyone.

  7. Are private lessons available?
Answer: Yes. Private lessons are available, but it is recommended that you learn the basics in one or more group classes first in order to maximize the benefits of private lessons.
